Diadema, Brazil: Sabertec Impact Diesel Filtration Technology Reduces Ambient Total Suspended Particulate by 42.51% while Using Brazilian High Sulfur Content Diesel.

In July of 2005, Sabertec LLC, in coordination with the City of Diadema, the City of Diadem’s Municipal Transportation Authority and the Experimental Laboratory of Atmospheric Pollution at the Medical Department of the University of São Paulo conducted tests to quantify the ambient effects of equipping Diadema’s public bus fleet with Sabertec’s Impact Diesel Particulate Filters (IDPF). Results revealed a 42.51% reduction in Total Suspended Particulate.

The tests, conducted at the city's primary bus terminal, spanned a three week period and measured levels of Total Suspended Particulate.

During Week One, none of the fleet’s busses were equipped with Sabertec’s IDPF’s. During this period, ambient PM levels were quanitified to establish baselines against which to quantify subsequent changes in ambient particulate. Table 1 illustrates baseline levels of ambient PM in Week One.

In Week Two, 50% of the bus fleet was equipped with Sabertec IDPF’s. Table 2 illustrates Week 2 reductions of ambient PM levels.
